Team17 and Playtonic Games have revealed that a free Yooka-Laylee and the Impossible Lair demo will release on Nintendo Switch next week

The demo will be made available on the Nintendo eShop on Thursday 30th January, and will let you try “an assortment of vibrant and exciting 2D levels,” the terrain-transforming Pagie Challenge, a State Change, Tonics, and to venture into The Impossible Lair.

The best part is that any progress that you make in the demo can be carried over when you choose to buy the game.

In this adventure-platformer game, Yooka and Laylee must work together to help Queen Phoebee restore order to the Royal Stingdom – rescuing her Royal Beettalion Guard from the clutches of Capital B.

As you explore the overworld, the companions will uncover new secrets and puzzles that can “dynamically transform” each of the game’s levels.

That means that you can expect there to be 40 levels in the game, with the transformations resulting from you hooking up electricity, flooding chapters with running water, or literally flipping them upside down.

Yooka-Laylee and the Impossible Lair is now available at retail and on the Nintendo eShop for Nintendo Switch worldwide.
