Hitcents and ThroughLine Games have announced that their action-adventure game Forgotlings will release on Nintendo Switch.

You will have the chance to explore the Forgotten Lands – a magical land teeming with forgotten objects – a gifted posing doll called Fig, who is on a quest to unite the different tribes of forgotlings against an enigmatic beast prophecised to engulf the world in darkness.

That will see you captain Fig’s ship, The Volare, which acts as your base of operations with its crew of forgotlings. You will need to save settlements from bandits and other baddies using combat mechanics that have looked to blend hack-and-slash with strategy and stealth.

With thousands of traditionally hand-drawn animation frames, full voice acting and a musical score that features the choir ensemble Theatre of Voices, this 2.5D semi-open-world Metroidvania will range from uncovering the ancient secrets that lie buried in the desert Dunes to climbing the magnificent Agore Mountains to exploring the majestic Falls.

“The main theme in Forgotlings is ‘Purpose’ – despite living in complex societies with more connectivity than ever before, we still see pervasive loneliness,” explains ThroughLine Games CEO and creative director Alfred Nguyen. “We hope Forgotlings resonates with players in today’s world, providing an imaginative lens through which to view existential threats.”

Forgotlings will release digitally on the Nintendo eShop for Nintendo Switch worldwide in 2024.
