Dragon Quest X will require internet connection to play full game

It has been confirmed during today’s Dragon Quest X press conference, producer Yousuke Saito explained that you are able to play through the game entirely by yourself.

It would seem that this doesn’t mean that you won’t require an internet connection, however, with Square Enix commenting on the query “Is it not possible to play without an internet connection?” on their support page with the following response: “It’s possible to play offline for the first few hours after the start of the game. However, to play all elements of the game, an internet connection is required.”

There also appears to be rumblings that users may be subject to a “usage fee”, with a section at the bottom of the game’s portal listing such words alongside the rather generic “TBA”. We’ll have to await more concrete details, however.
