Square Enix has announced that Dragon Quest Monsters: The Dark Prince will receive downloadable content when it releases on Nintendo Switch later this year.
There will be three sets of DLC that will be available to purchase from the Nintendo eShop at launch, offering additional content to earn rewards to help you on your quest and new outfits for Psaro to wear:
- The Mole Hole: Delve underground for a reunion with monster types you’ve befriended once before. You’ll also have the opportunity to scout monsters that are otherwise very tricky to synthesise. This DLC includes the ‘gothic vestment’ outfit.
- Coach Joe’s Dungeon Gym: Explore these randomly generated dungeons and battle legions of powerful monsters. Each dungeon comes with unique requirements that require players to carefully assess and construct their party. Dispatch the boss that awaits in the final room to earn rare items that will aid you in raising ever-stronger allies. This DLC includes the ‘cake-maker’s clobber’ outfit.
- Treasure Trunks: Every time you open these mysterious treasure chests, you’ll obtain an exciting reward. However, you’ll have to wait a little while before you can open the chest up again and obtain the next exciting reward on the list! Keep opening them and you’re guaranteed to get your hands on some very enticing items indeed! This DLC includes the ‘monstrous mail’ outfit.
Dragon Quest Monsters: The Dark Prince stars the demon prince Psaro, whose curse prevents him from harming monsters. As a result, he must become a Monster Wrangler, recruiting, and fighting alongside monsters throughout the various environments of the fantastical world of Nadiria. Over the course of this adventure, the seasons will regularly cycle through Spring, Summer, Winter, and Fall, which not only changes the landscape, but also opens new areas and players will encounter different monsters specific to that season.
One of the most powerful tools in the player arsenal is the newly evolved synthesis system which allows players to create completely new monsters by combining those already on their roster. Players can experiment and eventually unlock over 500 monsters, including franchise favourites, dark lords, and completely new creatures. Once players have assembled their dream roster, they can take their teams of powerful monsters online, to battle against other Monster Wranglers around the world.
Dragon Quest Monsters: The Dark Prince will release at retail and digitally on the Nintendo eShop for Nintendo Switch worldwide on 1 December 2023.
