Bethesda Softworks and id Software have confirmed that DOOM Eternal‘s release on Nintendo Switch is “very close,” promising more news “in the not too distant future.”

“I wish I could say, I wish I could give you specifics because I read all the comments. Whenever we say anything about DOOM Eternal there’s always the one out of every five comments is ‘Yeah, how about you tell us about the Switch?'” explains id Software’s Marty Stratton.

“So, I know people are anxious, we’re trying to make it the best version of the game it possibly can be. We’ve been working with Panic Button, they’re also, like everybody, in work from home, so it’s taking a little bit longer to get there. But we want it to be everything it possibly can be.

“It’s very close and we’re trying to be very uncompromising with what it needs to be, because we know there’s a high demand for it. We will be talking about it again in the not too distant future. It is close, but I can’t say exactly how close.”

The direct sequel to DOOM is set to an all-new pulse-pounding soundtrack composed by Mick Gordon, and will see players return to take their vengeance against the forces of Hell and Heaven as the DOOM Slayer.

With the developer promising to deliver “the ultimate combination of speed and power with the next leap in push-forward, first-person combat,” you will fight across dimensions as you slay the demon hordes with powerful weapons and abilities.

DOOM Eternal is now available for PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC worldwide.
