Digital Foundry has shared their technical performance analysis for Monolith Soft’s Xenoblade Chronicles X, which has resulted in some especially positive praise for the expansive JRPG.

The Wii U exclusive runs at a particularly stable 30 frames per second, with the discussion touching on alpha texture resolution, motion blur implementation and object pop-in as some necessary sacrifices to maintain such a steady performance.

There were some peculiarities noted, such as a lack of collision detection in New Los Angeles and static shadows that do not shift in response to the game’s day-to-night cycle. Otherwise, it more roundly impresses.

“The slick presentation, rich gameplay, and incredible soundtrack all comes together to create one of the most polished open world experiences we’ve encountered in quite some time – even in the face of obvious technical compromises,” Digital Foundry‘s John Linneman concludes. “Looking back over Monolith Soft’s catalogue of games, we feel confident in saying that Xenoblade Chronicles X is its most impressive title to date.”

Xenoblade Chronicles X will release exclusively for Wii U in Europe and North America on December 4th.
