tinyBuild and Konfa Games have announced that their roguelike tactical auto-battler Despot’s Game: Dystopian Army Builder will release on Nintendo Switch next month.
You will be challenged to build your squad of puny humans into a legion of wizards, ninjas, and other heroes, equipping your rag-tag units with 50 weapons from 10 unique classes as you lead them through a strange post-apocalyptic labyrinth.
With 60 different monsters to overcome – ranging from giant skeletons and undead zombies to the mythological beast Cerberus and giant man-eating cabbages – you can turn the tide of battle by mutating your armed masses. That can see you buff them up with defense-boosting thicker skin and an increased attack, see them charge into battle with rapid-firing robots or invoke the Glory to Satan ritual to summon an eldritch tentacle.
“Despot’s Game represents our childhood and all of our love for gaming wrapped in one,” explains Konfa Games’ Nikolay Kuznetsov. “The weapons are filled with easter eggs that represent movies, TV shows, games, and books we read growing up. It’s really fun to see players’ excitement when they recognize and relate to them as well, because without our community, it wouldn’t have been possible to create this game.”
Despot’s Game: Dystopian Army Builder will release digitally on the Nintendo eShop for Nintendo Switch worldwide on 15th September 2022.
