Iceberg Interactive and Mango Protocol have confirmed a release date for their “puzzlevania” mystery adventure CLeM on Nintendo Switch.
This is the next quirky game from the developer behind MechaNika, Colossus Down and Agatha Knife.
After a voice wakes you and gives you a purpose, to achieve it you are given a notebook with mysterious entries to complete and are left to explore an entire house. And then you wake up, in a dark room that is cold and damp. Unsure whether you slept there last night, seeing as your head is cloudy, swollen and has something inside it.
Unzipping the nape of your neck, you take out a notebook with the word CLeM on the cover – opening it to find that some pages have entries on them, which look like notes on insects and other bugs. Some drawings and symbols look familiar but you can’t work out why, and, after studying them, you hear it once more… “Hey you, wake up and bring me beauty.”
The developer has outlined the game’s key features, which include:
- Experience a Dark Adventure Full of Mystery: You awaken in a cold, dimly lit room, your senses slowly adjusting to the surroundings that, oddly, feel familiar. A strange sensation lingers in you, reminding you that something is not quite right. As you find your bearings, your attention is drawn to a peculiar item on the ground. A notebook labeled “CLeM” lies before you. As you delve into its pages, covered with intricate sketches of insects accompanied by vague symbols, you find a note containing a cryptic message: “Bring me BEAUTY.” Lost in deciphering the contents, a voice interrupts your focus.
- Solve Puzzles and Find Your Way: Puzzles intertwine with exploration, weaving a unique narrative experience we call “Puzzlevania” with a shadowy story to unravel and countless challenges to overcome.
- Craft Enchanted Toys and Uncover Secrets: Craft magic toys to unveil hidden secrets, access unreachable spots, and reclaim items from the past as you uncover new revelations in familiar spaces.
- Discover a Cute and Dark World: Investigate a seemingly desolate house accompanied only by an obscure voice and a notebook full of annotations and drawings on alchemy, insects, and other creepy crawlies.
- Embrace Your Destiny: Choose your fate in this dark story of manipulation, pride, forgiveness, and redemption.
CLeM will be released digitally on the Nintendo eShop for Nintendo Switch worldwide on 6 February 2024.
