Check out GameCube & Wii Classics in full stereoscopic 3D on Nintendo 3DS

An aspect of the Nintendo 3DS that I’m sure many of you may have not investigated fully, is its capability to not only capture 3D photographs but to also output and display them in glasses-free stereoscopic 3D.

We’ve previously seen some 3D imagery of Disneyland Florida that hit the internet, yet have you ever wondered how GameCube and Wii classics such as Metal Gear Solid: Twin Snakes, The Legend of Zelda: Wind Waker or even Bioware’s acclaimed epic Mass Effect 2 would look in glorious 3D? Look no further.

Talented GBATemp.net forum member Eighteen has been hard at work, and whilst some of the images work better than others it provides a perfect insight into the possibilities of Nintendo’s latest handheld.

You’ll have to download the .MPO files, unzip them and then transfer them to your Nintendo 3DS using an SD Card!

Firstly, there’s a 3DS Ultra Pack which includes the majority of the .MPO files available to download through this link. Otherwise, you’ll find the rest alphabetically listed below – duplicates marked “Mega Pack” have a greater quantity of screenshots than the original upload.

Enjoy!

  1. These won’t work because there are not JPEG files they can use in the MPO file they don’t show up at all.

    • Hi Craig,

You’ll need to transfer them to an SD Card, to then view through your Nintendo 3DS.

I’ve tried it myself, and they work fine? Have you got the DCIM > 100NIN03 folder hierarchy?
