Name Castlevania, Metroid and the timeless Studio Ghibli as your inspiration, and you’ve already set expectation particularly high. That’s precisely the challenge that French indie developer have propelled themselves into, sharing early details of their debut in Lynn and the Spirits of Inao.
The 2D action-platformer draws upon the Super Nintendo Entertainment System’s golden era to help direct the nuance of its design, while looking to the hand-drawn art style that has populated all output by Hayao Miyazaki’s ambitious studio.
An open world design will encourage exploration, with a day-night cycle promises to influence gameplay and level design. Side quests, collectibles and skills are awaiting to be unlocked, with players to be pitted against mighty bosses.
Now in the early stage of development, Lynn and the Spirits of Inao is currently seeking feedback through Steam Greenlight to be spurred to completion through Kickstarter assistance – a Wii U release pencilled in for October 2015.
