Team Reptile has confirmed a release date for Bomb Rush Cyberfunk, which is out on Nintendo Switch this month.
With the developer looking to deliver “1 second per second of highly advanced funkstyle,” you will choose a character from your crew before freely exploring the three-dimensional streets that surround you.
You can expect to “dance, paint, trick, face off with the cops and stake your claim to the extrusions and cavities of a sprawling metropolis in an alternate future set to the musical brainwaves of Hideki Naganuma.”
In this world, self-styled crews are equipped with personal boostpacks with your goal to bomb and get your name up – painting graffiti in every neighbourhood to build enough REP to challenge the local crew for their territory.
You will be able to string your tricks and graffiti into combos to increase your score, landing it to convert into boost power that can help you “zoom through the city at top speed.” Perform a crazy enough combo and you will active Bomb Rush Mode, rewarding you with infinite boost power.
The developer has outlined the game’s key features, which include:
- Explore the 5 main boroughs of the city to hit graffiti spots and get REP. You’ll need it to challenge the rival crews to a Crew Battle.
- Find new members to join your crew around the city. Spread around are also new graffiti pieces to paint, outfit colors and music to play on your flip phone.
- Use skateboarding, inline skating or BMX style tricks in the unique environment based trick system. Extend your combos with manuals and get even higher scores by incorporating special Boost Tricks.
- You can get boost power for doing long combos so the fastest way to move is also the most stylish.
- Dynamic militarized police that scales up as you vandalize.
Bomb Rush Cyberfunk will release as a timed console exclusive on the Nintendo eShop for Nintendo Switch worldwide on 18 August 2023.
