Koei Tecmo and GUST Studios have revealed new gameplay details about Atelier Ryza 2: Lost Legends and the Secret Fairy, coming to Nintendo Switch.

Set three years after the original game, Atelier Ryza 2: Lost Legends and the Secret Fairy centres on Ryza leaving her hometown of Kurken Island to journey to the Royal Capital of Ashra-am Baird, setting up her own atelier shop while exploring ancient ruins to uncover the truth behind the mystery of the lost legends.

That will see her traverse her environment in new ways, such as swinging, climbing, crawling or squeezing past obstacles. The mystical Emerald Band will let her swing across treacherous gaps, while Air Drops will allow Ryza to dive underwater to discover areas with aquatic materials perfect for synthesis.

These raw materials can then be used in the Linkage Synthesis system to craft items used for battle, gathering and exploration.

This has evolved to allow you to simply fill the Material Loops with the required ingredients, with the new Essence feature letting you alter the elemental trait of an item during synthesis to take on new qualities.

And then there’s Evolution Link which lets you combine two fully synthesised items together, that, depending on your choices, could result in you discovering “an extraordinary new item.”

Ryza will once again be accompanied by her mischievous friends, with Klaudia the first to be confirmed to return. The only daughter of a merchant family, Klaudia has been working in the Royal Capital, but thinks back to the adventure she had with Ryza three years earlier and desires to lead a more exciting life.

You will also be joined by a mysterious creature known as Fi. The creature doesn’t speak but it “is very expressive and full of emotion, bonding quickly with Ryza while helping her seek answers to the true meaning of the lost legends.”

Those that purchase a physical or digital copy of the game in the first two weeks from launch will receive an Early Purchase Bonus code for the Summer Fashion Costume Set.

In addition, those that have save data from Atelier Ryza: Ever Darkness and the Secret Hideout can unlock the Classic Costume Set which includes outfits for Ryza and her friends from the previous game.

Atelier Ryza 2: Lost Legends and the Secret Fairy will release for Nintendo Switch worldwide in Winter 2020.
