Playdius and Aurelien Regard Games have announced when AWAY: Journey to the Unexpected will release on Nintendo Switch, news that was shared in this weekend’s Kinda Funny Games Showcase.

Your character in the colourful first-person adventure game is not a hero but is great at making kick-ass friends, and, once befriended, can be recruited as allies on your quest.

It will “mix the soft, cartoony look of 2D animation with a 3D first-person gameplay,” presenting an experience that is expected to last around 10 hours and combines action, negotiation and rogue-lite elements.

The strange characters that you meet on your journey can be recruited as allies and played in first-person, as long as you can come up with the right answers to convince them to join your team.

AWAY: Journey To The Unexpected will release on the Nintendo eShop for Nintendo Switch worldwide on February 7th.
