Mr Nutz Studio is behind this fast-paced 2D beat ’em up sequel, in which Goudurix seeks help from Asterix, Obelix and the villagers after his father, Oceanonix, is imprisoned for a theft he did not commit.
The Aquila of Lutetia has been stolen and Oceanonix is accused of being the culprit. Asterix and Obelix must journey to Lutetia to start to uncover the truth about who is behind the crime.
Promising to pay tribute to the comics “in an exceptional way,” the developer has created the game’s characters, backgrounds and animations by hand. You can expect more fearsome enemies and bosses, with the experience enhanced with “a host of new features and gameplay improvements.”
Asterix and Obelix now have “new specific moves they can charge up for even more powerful attacks,” may choose to trigger their Fury mode to increase their strength, and unleash an Ultimate attack to devastate their foes.
In addition, Microids and Les Editions Albert René have extended their licensing agreement for the development of “several video games and new figurines” based on the Asterix franchise.
“Editions Albert René are delighted to be strengthening and extending their special partnership with Microids,” explains Les Editions Albert René licensing director Baptiste Cazaux. “Their long-standing commitment to Asterix has enabled Microids to become a major player in the franchise. We are therefore convinced that future developments will be even more qualitative and innovative thanks to the passion and respect of the Microids teams for the Asterix licence, whose know-how and creativity are undisputed. We therefore look forward to continuing to work with them on future developments and to continuing to build on our collaboration with new video games and new figurines from Pixi / Plastoy.”
Microids CEO Stéphane Longeard adds: “We are extremely proud and honoured to continue our privileged collaboration with Les Editions Albert René, which allows us to further explore the universe of Asterix and his friends through video games and the creation of figurines with Plastoy and Pixi.
“The publisher’s confidence in us is invaluable recognition of the work we have been doing for several years now. It’s a real reflection of our commitment to preserving the integrity and spirit of Asterix, and we look forward to continuing to offer gamers exceptional experiences in this much-loved universe. The Microids teams and our studios strive to create titles that are faithful to the original universe created by Albert Uderzo and René Goscinny, offering players fun and entertaining experiences. We look forward to sharing more information about the Asterix games we plan to develop over the coming years.”
Asterix & Obelix: Slap Them All! 2 will release at retail and digitally on the Nintendo eShop for Nintendo Switch worldwide in November 2023.
