You will want to unlock the Tool Ring as soon as possible in Animal Crossing: New Horizons. This essential life upgrade lets you more immediately swap between the tools that you need, quickening your access to whichever you want.
The good news is that it won’t take too long for you to unlock. Once you have upgraded your Tent to your first House, Tom Nook will explain that homeowners receive an automatic Nook Mileage Program upgrade.
This means that you have unlocked access to Nook Miles+ and the benefits that it brings. Not only will you have more ways to earn additional Nook Miles, there are more rewards that you can redeem them for on the Nook Stop multimedia terminal.
It is the Tool Ring: It’s Essential! card that you will want to get, which will require you to hand over 800 Nook Miles to unlock. Once the Nook Stop has printed out the instructions, you will be able to use the Tool Ring straight away.
Whenever you press Up on the Directional Pad, it will bring up the Tool Ring. You can use this radial menu to access any tools that you have favourited with the Left Stick, which will hopefully help you more readily enjoy your otherwise peaceful island existence.

Is there a way to turn this off? I regret purchasing the tool ring, and find it harder to use than simply opening my inventory and switching, or using the left and right arrows to rotate through them. Unfortunately, I can’t just not use the function, as every new tool has this little stamp on it now that I have to turn off and it’s rather irritating. Do you know of any way to return it or turn it off or get rid of it?
