As Nintendo of America look to provide their own take on 2014’s NPD Group sales figures, they have shared an interesting tidbit about how amiibo are faring at retail.
With the first wave having launched on November 21st and, while we know that demand has been overwhelmingly strong, has since seen the figures achieve “nearly twice the sales of Super Smash Bros. for Wii U.”
Nintendo say that the Wii U brawler’s sales have surpassed 1.3 million physical and digital units, which indicates that the amiibo range is quickly racing toward the 2.6 million sales mark. 2.6 million, in little over a month.
It’s therefore no surprise that they’re looking to release successive waves, and introduce the Super Mario Collection range.
