Marion Cotillard has signed on to join Michael Fassbender in Ubisoft and New Regency’s Assassin’s Creed movie adaptation, Deadline has revealed.

The award-winning actress is acclaimed for her roles in A Very Long Engagement, La Vie en Rose, Inception and The Dark Knight Rises, and reunites with Fassbender after they recently worked together on a movie adaptation of Shakespeare’s Macbeth.

Reportedly, the Assassin’s Creed movie is already in production although a director hasn’t been attached to the project. It emerged last year that Ubisoft and New Regency were in talks with Australian director Justin Kurzel, who worked with the pair on Macbeth.

The Assassin’s Creed movie will open in cinemas from 21st December 2016.
