Nintendo of America have announced that Nintendo 3DS owners across North America will be able to enjoy use of free Wi-Fi access from 25,000 locations across the country. Such hotspots will appear in shopping centers, retail stores, coffee shops and airports.

As of June 7th, a new partnership with Simon Property Group, the country’s largest owner, developer and manager of high-quality retail real estate, will ensure wireless connection points placed at nearly 200 Simon shopping malls. A further 1,000 Best Buy stores will also provide Wi-Fi access, and 24,000 AT&T Wi-Fi hotspots will also be available.

Such a move will ensure that Nintendo 3DS owners will be able to choose from a range of convenient places to connect their systems and enjoy unique downloadable content.

“With thousands of free Wi-Fi access points through our alliances, Nintendo 3DS users across the country can instantly enjoy one-of-a-kind entertainment experiences wherever and whenever they like,” comments Nintendo of America President Reggie Fils-Aime. “In addition to a strong lineup of games and the ability to view 3D content without special glasses, the system makes it easy for people to connect with their surroundings and each other, even when they’re away from home.”
