Release Date: 21st February 2020

It’s the year 3716 and humanity is in bad shape with aliens a constant threat. What’s interesting about Ciel Fledge is it veers away from what you’d expect of a game placed in this setting. Instead, it’s a management game all about raising your adopted daughter. Everything from her schedule to how she dresses is in your control as you do your best to take care of her until she reaches adulthood. Perhaps one of the more unique ideas on this list.

Darksiders Genesis

Release Date: 14th February 2020

The fourth game in the series and the one to introduce us to the final of the four Horsemen of the Apocalypse, Strife. Unlike previous entries, this game takes the shape of a top-down hack and slasher giving off very Diablo-esque vibes. With a second player able to jump in and play as Death (both playable locally and online) this could deliver a neat twist on the once Zelda-inspired franchise.

Release Date: 20th February 2020

When it comes to Switch support, Capcom has definitely been relying a lot on the back catalogue from some of their bigger franchises. The third entry in the Devil May Cry series is next up, a fine game in its own right but one potentially made even better thanks to a new addition – the ability to change weapon style on the fly (similar to the newer DMC releases).

Fire Emblem: Three Houses Cindered Shadows DLC

Release Date: 13th February 2020

Fire Emblem fans might already be enjoying playing as Byleth in Super Smash Bros. Ultimate but Fire Emblem: Three Houses still has one more wave of DLC to offer too this month. Cindered Shadows is the first proper story-based expansion offering players the chance to visit a new location beneath the monastery, meet four new characters and take on more quests. It definitely seems Nintendo have saved the best and most substantial content for last.

Knights And Bikes Screenshot

Knights and Bikes

Release Date: 6th February 2020

Originally a Kickstarter project, Knights and Bikes sees you playing as Nessa and Demelza who along with their pet goose Captain Honkers must explore an island via bike and foot solving puzzles and taking on enemies using abilities (such as water balloons and frisbees). Co-op mode is also included, with each player taking control of one of the kids. With the creative talents behind games like LittleBigPlanet, Tearaway and Ratchet and Clank this will surely be one to keep an eye on.

KUNAI Logo

Kunai

Release Date: 6th February 2020

Another game where humanity is on the brink of extinction only this time it’s not down to an alien takeover but rather an evil robot one. Playing as Tabby – the ninja tablet (yes you read correctly) – you’ll make your way through this Metroidvania style adventure slashing away at robots with a range of weapons using an assortment of skills. The Switch isn’t short on games of this genre but the pacey gameplay and limited palette pixel-art style help give this game its own flavour.

Mega Man Zero/ZX Legacy Collection Logo

Mega Man Zero/ ZX Legacy Collection

Release Date: 25th February 2020

Mega Man has seen somewhat of a resurgence lately with both the original and the X series receiving collections not to mention the brilliant new Mega Man 11 adventure releasing in 2018. It appears Capcom isn’t done yet though with Mega Man Zero/ ZX Legacy Collection assembling Mega Man Zero 1 through 4 and Mega Man ZX and Mega Man ZX Advent. Expect the usual assortment of extra modes and fan-service content.

Metro Redux Image

Metro Redux

Release Date: 28th February 2020

February will see not one but two Metro games hitting the Switch – Metro 2033 and Metro: Last Light. With the world’s surface a poisonous wasteland, humans are now forced to live in the Moscow underground. Both games will see you doing battle against other hostile humans and mutants that dwell the metro underground and the surface too. Tense and highly atmospheric both games offer the player two ways to play – survival heavy much like Metro 2033 or more action-oriented similar to Metro: Last Light. With all DLC included this is looking to be quite a generous package for those new to the Metro series.

Rune Factory 4 Special Logo

Rune Factory 4 Special

Release Date: 25th February 2020

An updated 3DS game, Rune Factory 4 Special looks to offer more beside the expected HD visual upgrade including new cutscenes and a new ‘Newlywed Mode’. Playing as a newly-appointed prince or princess you’ll get to rule the town, passing orders, farming, chatting with the residents and even adventure into dungeons. Sounds like an intriguing combination and given the positive reception of the 3DS original I’d expect similar sentiment here too.

Snack World: The Dungeon Crawl Gold Logo

Snack World: The Dungeon Crawl Gold

Release Date: 14th February 2020

As the name of the name suggests, Snack World: The Dungeon Crawl Gold is a dungeon crawler that sees you and up to three others (both locally and online) venturing out into randomly generated dungeons and gathering loot for your troubles. With plenty of weapons and items to earn, not to mention the assortment of customisables to alter the look of your character and quests to tackle this could well be a winner especially if you have friends eager for a team-based adventure with plenty of loot to collect.

The Dark Crystal: Age of Resistance Tactics Review Header

The Dark Crystal: Age of Resistance Tactics

Release Date: 4th February 2020

Following the hit Netflix TV show comes tactical strategy game The Dark Crystal: Age of Resistance Tactics. As you explore the world of Thra, you’ll encounter over 80 different turn-based campaign battles, recruiting new allies along the way and customising their gear. Fans of the series will clearly appreciate the link to the show but looking over the trailers this looks like it could deliver a deep and enjoyable strategy experience.

Two Point Hospital Nintendo Switch Screenshot 2

Two Point Hospital

Release Date: 25th February 2020

Fans of Theme Hospital should find this one immediately familiar. Two Point Hospital is a spiritual successor to the PC hit not to mention designed and developed by a number of staff responsible for that original game. Expect a similar mix of hospital management and silly diseases to deal with. The PC release was met with rave reviews so get your scalpels at the ready.
