It has been reported that the release date for Nintendo Switch 2 has been pushed back, and will now launch later than expected in early 2025.

It was Brazilian journalist Pedro Henrique Lutti Lippe who first reported in an O X do Controle episode that he had heard from “five sources from three different continents” that the Nintendo Switch successor, largely expected to launch later this year.

After this emerged, Video Games Chronicle corroborated the report stating that “third-party game companies were recently briefed on an internal delay in Nintendo’s next-gen launch timing, from late 2024 to early the following year.”

Eurogamer then backed up these reports by adding: “The console’s launch moving into early next year – but still within the coming financial year – is designed to ensure Switch 2’s launch line-up features as many titles as possible.”

Bloomberg then threw their weight behind the reports, writing: “Nintendo Co. is advising game publishers that its next-generation console will be delayed until the early months of 2025, according to people with knowledge of the matter.

“Nintendo has told some publishing executives not to expect the console until March 2025 at the earliest.“
