With a week to go until The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild launches worldwide, EDGE has become the first publication to break cover with their review for Link’s open-air adventure.

That sees the UK-based magazine award the Nintendo Switch and Wii U exclusive a perfect score on their 10-point scale, becoming the nineteenth game that the publication has awarded that score.

In concluding the review, the magazine writes: “The result, for all the longevity of its series and the familiarity of the open world genre, is a game that evokes feelings we haven’t felt for 20 years. Not since Ocarina of Time have we set foot in a world that feels so mind-bogglingly vast and unerringly magical, that proves so relentlessly intriguing.

“Plenty of games promise to let us go anywhere and do anything. Few, if any, ever deliver so irresistibly. 19 years on Ocarina is still help up as the high water mark of gaming’s best loved and greatest series. Now it may have to settle for second place.”

Super Mario 64 was the first game that they awarded 10 out of 10 to, and, over the years, other Nintendo-related games that have done so include The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time, Super Mario Galaxy, Bayonetta, Super Mario Galaxy 2, The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword, and Bayonetta 2.

The April 2017 issue also shares reviews for Dandy Dungeon (9), Horizon: Zero Dawn (9), Nioh (9), Torment: Tides of Numenera (8), Aaero (7), Sniper Elite 4 (7), and Dexed (6).

The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild will release exclusively on Nintendo Switch and Wii U worldwide on March 3rd.
