Nintendo has confirmed that The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom has sold more than 10 million days worldwide in the three days since it launched.

That has allowed it to not only become the fastest-selling game in The Legend of Zelda series, but Europe’s fastest-selling game for Nintendo Switch and the fastest-selling Nintendo game for any system in Europe.

“In its seventh year, Nintendo Switch momentum continues strongly, as this record-breaking launch shows,” explains Nintendo of Europe president Stephan Bole. “We’re so grateful for the support of fans for The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom, and are truly looking forward to seeing their adventures and creations as they journey into Hyrule.”

Whereas four million of those copies were sold in the Americas, which also saw it become the fastest-selling Nintendo Switch game and the fastest-selling Nintendo game for any system in that territory.

“Many players are returning to Hyrule with all its new mysteries and possibilities, and with the record-breaking launch of The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom for Nintendo Switch, we can’t wait to see what they’ll create in the game and the stories they’ll share next,” adds Devon Pritchard, Nintendo of America’s executive vice president of sales, marketing and communications. “We’re grateful for all of our fans who’ve shown their passion for The Legend of Zelda over the years, and these sales numbers for the latest installment continue to show the strong momentum for both the franchise and Nintendo Switch this year.”

The anticipated sequel to The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild will take you across the land and skies of Hyrule, where you will once again have the chance to chart your own path through its sprawling landscapes and mysterious floating islands. You will need to harness the power of Link’s new abilities to fight against the malevolent forces threatening the kingdom.

The game’s launch was supported with the Nintendo Switch OLED Model – The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom, a themed Nintendo Switch Pro Controller and The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom Collector’s Edition, which includes a physical copy of the game, an artbook with concept art, a SteelBook case, an Iconart steel poster and a set of four pin badges.
