Nintendo have today confirmed the discovery of a game-breaking glitch within The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword.

It is only encountered by players if they complete a sequence of events in the storyline within a specific order.

Whilst there is no confirmation regarding a patch for the issue, Nintendo have stated that they are “documenting all feedback”.

Please be aware that the following contains spoilers from the later portion of The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword.

“We have been made aware of the issue that results in being unable to progress in the Song of the Hero quest,” Nintendo of America spokesperson Sharon Matheny confirmed.

“If the game has been saved after completing the sequence of events, it will no longer be possible to proceed through the game on that save file. The only options at that point are to either start the game over or to use an earlier save file to continue.”

The Song of the Hero quest requires players to revisit each of the game’s three ground locations to collect individual parts of the song, with the bug appearing when players return to Lanaryu Desert first.

The glitch occurs when players travel to Lanaryu Mine where they speak with Golo the Goron, to then receive the song of the Thunder Dragon, and then return afterwards once again chat to Golo. Following this, the remaining two locations will become unavailable ensuring that the player is unable to progress.

“This issue will not occur if the Fire and Water Dragon songs have already been collected before collecting the Thunder Dragon’s song,” Nintendo stated. “Simply talking to Golo in the Lanayru Caves at any other point in the game “will also not trigger the issue”.
