Unsurprisingly, Youkai Watch 2 has become LEVEL-5’s greatest launch success in their home territory, after selling more than 1.28 million copies in just four days.
That’s higher than any release in the company’s history, with Professor Layton and the Unwound Future (347,360 copies), Inazuma Eleven 3: Lightning Bolt/Bomb Blast (505,161 copies), and The Little Battlers (166,187 copies) seeing the strongest sales in their respective sales.
Professor Layton and Inazuma Eleven took time to entire their stride, with Youkai Watch 2’s success largely being attributed to the franchise’s raised awareness after a televised anime series that began broadcasting across Japan in January, an ongoing manga series, and a movie scheduled for release this December.
