Nintendo UK VS Live: London will take place at the Royal Horticultural Halls next month, an event that will not only cater to hardened competitors seeking fame and glory in intense tournaments but to less competitively-minded gamers wanting to meet like-minded fans and play upcoming Nintendo Switch games.
The event, which you should pencil in for Saturday 28th – Sunday 29th July, will be the first chance for those in the UK and Ireland to play Super Smash Bros. Ultimate and it will also play host to the first official qualifier for the Splatoon 2 UK Championship 2018 series.
The Splatoon 2 UK Championship 2018 series will see an extended tournament series at multiple events throughout the UK, and new to this series are the Octo League and Inkling League.
The Octo League matches will be played in ranked game types in best of five matches, with the league open to teams of all ages. Whereas the Inkling League is a new division that has been created specifically for squads of younger players aged 13 and under, with matches played as Best of Three in the Turf War game type.
From Nintendo UK VS Live and the other events that are listed below, 7 Octo League teams and 4 Inkling League teams will win the chance to take part in the Nintendo VS UK Live: Splatoon 2 UK Championship 2018 Grand Final: Birmingham in November.
The top squads in both age divisions will be crowned as the Splatoon 2 UK Champions 2018, and the Octo League winners will go on to represent the UK and Ireland and compete in the Splatoon 2 European Championship’s 2018-2019 season – with the live grand final to happen in spring 2019.
There will also be a Super Smash Bros. Ultimate Invitational at Nintendo UK VS Live: London on Sunday 29th July, while attendees will be able to play games like Mario Tennis Aces, ARMS, Pokkén Tournament DX, Mario Kart 8 Deluxe and others.
Tickets for the public to attend are now available on Eventbrite, and will be distributed on a first come, first serve basis. For those that can’t make it, both days of the show will be streamed live on Twitch and YouTube.
