Nintendo has announced that you can now use My Nintendo Gold Points to buy Nintendo Switch games digitally on the Nintendo eShop.

You can earn Gold Points by buying eligible games and downloadable content for Nintendo Switch, Wii U, and Nintendo 3DS, based on the amount that you have paid.

That will be 5 percent for digital purchases and 1 percent for physical purchases, which, as an example, would see you earn 250 Gold Points if you paid £49.99 for a game on the Nintendo eShop. These points are £2.50 in value and can be redeemed towards any game that you want to buy.

It’s important to know that Gold Points will expire after 12 months on the last day of the month in which you earned them. And that subscriptions, passes, in-game items, virtual currency, or downloadable content on Wii U and Nintendo 3DS will not reward you with Gold Points.
