You Can Create Your Own Gym In Pokémon Pokopia

The Pokémon Company International has shared a new Developer Island Tour video for Pokémon Pokopia, which is out on Nintendo Switch 2 this week.

This 9-minute video showcases how much you can unleash your imagination to shape your island, with Kanako Murata (The Pokémon Company), Shigeru Ohmori (Game Freak), Takuto Edagawa (Koei Tecmo Games) and Marina Ayano (Koei Tecmo Games) sharing their creations with each other.

Those creations include a secret Ghost-type Gym, a home carved into the side of a mountain with an automated toilet and a hidden musical room, and a puzzle room on the beach that requires another Pokémon to help you clear it.

From co-developers Game Freak and Koei Tecmo Games, Pokémon Pokopia stars a Ditto that takes on a human appearance and builds a new life with other Pokémon.

As Ditto, players can explore and learn moves from the Pokémon they befriend – such as Bulbasaur’s Leafage to grow greenery, or Squirtle’s Water Gun to revive dried-up plants – expanding their capabilities and helping them create an inviting environment to attract a variety of Pokémon.

Players can collect materials, build furniture, grow vegetables, and create homes for Pokémon, allowing them to experience a cosy, slow life with Pokémon – one that they build themselves from the ground up. Over time, players can develop a town of their own and invite other players or Pokémon to visit. Pokémon Pokopia also features a day-night cycle linked to real-world time, changing weather, and in-game locations with their own unique characteristics.

Pokémon Pokopia will be released at retail and digitally on the Nintendo eShop for Nintendo Switch 2 worldwide on 5 March 2026.
