Niantic and The Pokémon Company International have revealed that elusive and extremely powerful Legendary Pokémon can soon be caught in Pokémon GO.
Their capture will require that Trainers work together to discover and battle the Legendary Pokémon, which will see everyone keep an eye out for unique Legendary Eggs that will appear at Gym locations around the world. Players can then team up with friends and other Trainers to take part in a Legendary Raid Battle to defeat the Legendary Pokémon – earning a chance to catch it if successful.
Niantic has clarified that once captured, Legendary Pokémon can be used to take on tough Raid Bosses and Gym Battles, but they cannot be left to defend Gyms.
The battle against the first Legendary Pokémon will be revealed at Pokémon GO Fest at Grant Park in Chicago, Illinois, on Saturday 22nd July – unlocked once Trainers worldwide catch enough Pokémon during the Pokémon GO Fest Challenge Windows. If Trainers successfully defeat the Legendary Pokémon in Chicago, that Pokémon will start appearing in Raid Battles around the world after Pokémon GO Fest.
Those that want to tune in can watch the Pokémon GO Fest livestream on Twitch or YouTube, that promises news, Challenge Window updates, exclusive interviews, and the reveal of the first Legendary Pokémon.
