Illumination has shared a short “Yoshi Chomps Back” clip for The Super Mario Galaxy Movie, as the animation studio continues to promote the upcoming movie.
The 30-second clip has the same scenes seen in the trailer that was shared in The Super Mario Galaxy Movie Direct, right until the end, where we see Yoshi leap into action to stop a marauding Chain Chomp by gulping it down with his sticky tongue.
The film stars Chris Pratt as Mario, Anya Taylor-Joy as Princess Peach, Charlie Day as Luigi, Jack Black as Bowser, Keegan-Michael Key as Toad, Benny Safdie as Bowser Jr., Kevin Michael Richardson as Kamek, and Brie Larson as Rosalina.
“Since the last time we spoke, animation has now been fully completed, and the movie has moved into post-production. Our teams are now focused on the sound design and the music that will carry our adventure across the galaxy,” Illumination’s Chris Meledandri had shared in The Super Mario Galaxy Movie Direct.
“Directors Aaron Horvath and Michael Jelenic are collaborating with Brian Tyler, Nintendo and our designers at Skywalker Sound. Brian has integrated themes from the Super Mario Galaxy games and is recording the score with a 70-piece orchestra. This is one of my favourite moments in the life of a production, where we begin to experience all of the visual and sonic elements coming together, and we can’t wait to share the movie with you in April.”
The Super Mario Galaxy Movie will be released in theatres in the United States “and many additional markets globally” from Wednesday 1 April 2026. It will be released in Japan on 24 April 2026, and in other select territories throughout April.
