It has been a long wait, but Playtonic Games has announced that Yooka-Laylee will see release for Nintendo Switch next month.

With “a shed-load of polish and updates,” the developer has revealed that there is single Joy-Con support for all eight multiplayer games, a custom in-game Achievement system, and, of course, the chance to play wherever and whenever you like.

Working with Nintendo and Unity to optimise the game, Yooka-Laylee will run at 900p when docked in TV mode and at 600p in Handheld mode.

“The Playtonic team has spent many, many months optimising Yooka-Laylee for Nintendo Switch (with technical help and support from Nintendo and Unity themselves!) and we believe we’re delivering a version Nintendo fans can be proud of,” the developer enthused to coincide with the news.

“Players can expect a quality experience both on and away from the television and on top of that, Switch players will benefit from the huge list of updates we’ve added since launch such as a brand new camera mode, control improvements, menu options, music… and a lot more!”

To celebrate the news, Playtonic has launched a fan art competition on Twitter and Facebook to win an ultra-rare 64-Bit Edition, for those interested in entering!

Yooka-Laylee will release on the Nintendo eShop for Nintendo Switch worldwide on December 14th, with digital pre-orders available from December 7th.
