Team17 and Playtonic Games have revealed a released date for Yooka-Laylee and the Impossible Lair, which has emerged after the upcoming adventure-platformer game has become available to pre-order on the Nintendo eShop in Australia and New Zealand.
From the Nintendo eShop page, we can learn that those wanting to buy the game digitally on the portable home console will need 4.6 GB of free space.
There are pre-order bonuses up for grabs, too. With a 10 percent pre-order discount, those that buy the game digitally will receive the Trowzer’s Top Tonic Pack that unlocks even more tonics.
Trowzer’s Top Tonic Pack will add four exclusive tonics that include:
- Largee Head: This tonic gives Laylee a comically oversized head. No cheat code required.
- Glow Worm: Yooka and Laylee aren’t worms but hey, look at them glow!
- D.I.S.C.O: Turn every level into a platforming party of Playtonic proportions.
- Yooka 64: For fans of all things retro this tonic will be a blast from the past! No added polygons.
“We’re excited to announce we are just a few weeks away from sending Yooka and Laylee off onto their next adventure against Capital B,” explained Playtonic Games managing director and creative lead, Gavin Price.
“Yooka-Laylee and the Impossible Lair takes the 2D platforming genre, mixes it up with a 3D world to explore and injects it with the unique humour that Playtonic is known for. Bringing Tonics back in all new flavours (they’re now combinable!) will give the community millions of ways to play the game and we can’t wait to see the results online!”
In the game, Yooka and Laylee must work together to help Queen Phoebee restore order to the Royal Stingdom – rescuing her Royal Beettalion Guard from the clutches of Capital B.
As you explore the overworld, the companions will uncover new secrets and puzzles that can “dynamically transform” each of the game’s levels.
That means that you can expect there to be 40 levels in the game, with the transformations resulting from you hooking up electricity, flooding chapters with running water, or literally flipping them upside down.
Yooka-Laylee and the Impossible Lair will release at retail and on the Nintendo eShop for Nintendo Switch worldwide on October 8th.
