SEGA has shared an overview trailer for Yakuza 0 Director’s Cut on Nintendo Switch 2, which is pitched as the “definitive edition” of the origin story to Ryu Ga Gotoku Studio’s Yakuza series.
You will have the chance to discover the decadence and danger of 1988 Japan. Told from two perspectives, as Kazuma Kiryu, you will discover how he finds himself in a world of trouble when a simple debt collection goes wrong and his mark winds up murdered. Then, step into the silver-toed shoes of Goro Majima and explore his “normal” life as the proprietor of a cabaret club.
With plenty of improvements, the publisher sees it as “the perfect entry point for those looking to begin their Yakuza journey.”
Now enhanced for the portable home console’s successor, this new “Director’s Cut” will include:
- New, never-before-seen story cutscenes that provide deeper insight into key incidents and character backstories.
- A brand-new “Red Light Raid” online multiplayer mode that lets players unlock 60 playable characters and join forces with friends to take down hordes of enemies.
- The addition of English and Chinese VO along with French, Italian, German, Spanish, and Simplified Chinese subtitles.
Yakuza 0 Director’s Cut will be released at retail and digitally on the Nintendo eShop for Nintendo Switch 2 worldwide on 5 June 2025.
