Yacht Club Games has clarified that remain responsible for the manufacturing and distribution behind the Shovel Knight amiibo.
Revealed last week at the Nindies@Night event, the arrangement sparked curiosity as it has been the first third-party amiibo arrangement.
Yacht Club’s director Sean Velasco shared that Nintendo have only helped guide the amiibo integration, which is being produced at the same factory handling Disney Infinity’s wide range of figures.
“We’re basically licensing the amiibo technology from Nintendo, and they’ve been overseeing it every step of the way,” Velasco explained to Destructoid. “From the design, to how the amiibo functions in the game, to making sure that it was all just perfect in every way.
“But we’re the ones that are dealing with the manufacturing and distribution, we’re the ones that are talking with the toy and sculpture people. Even things like the packaging.”
