Monolith Soft had shared how they were barely able to fit Xenoblade Chronicles X on a single disc, hinting that Nintendo had helped in “implementing a mechanism” for those that, as recommended, purchase the retail version of the Wii U exclusive.

Siliconera report that such mechanism has now been revealed, with four optional Data Packs being made available that will allow data to be streamed from the hard drive as well as the disc.

Each of these will already be included with Xenoblade Chronicles X’s download version, so will only be needed by those wanting to improve their gameplay experience with the disc version. The Data Packs are comprised as follows:

Basic Data Pack (2 GB) – Effect: Large
The Basic Data Pack contains terrain data that will allow faster loading speeds when in New Los Angeles and field environments, and is a requirement for other Data Packs to work.

Enemy Data Pack (2.7 GB) – Effect: Medium
Combined with the Basic Data Pack, this will speed load times when in field environments.

Player Data Pack (3.6 GB) – Effect: Medium
Relating to armour and character graphics, combined with the Basic Data Pack this will speed load times when in New Los Angeles and when changing equipment at shops.

Doll Data Pack (1.7 GB) – Effect: Medium
This, when combined with the Basic Data Pack, will allow for faster loading speeds when Doll mechs appear in New Los Angeles and field environments.

Xenoblade Chronicles X will release exclusively for Wii U in Japan on April 29th, and in the west later this year.
