Xenoblade Chronicles sees UK stock shortages due to “unexpected late demand”

It would appear that a late surge of orders for Wii exclusive JRPG Xenoblade Chronicles has caught Nintendo off-guard, as online retailer ShopTo.net have stated that the publisher is currently battling “great stock shortages” of the title.

“Due to the unexpected late demand for Xenoblade Chronicles the publisher has experienced great stock shortages of this title,” the retailer explained through social media site Twitter today. It is unclear, however, as to how this will affect sales over the weekend and whether the initial shipment was enough to cover pre-orders across all outlets.

The game, due to release across Europe tomorrow, has received a burst of positive reviews this week and is currently sitting on an impressive Metacritic rating of 92. ‘Operation Rainfall’, an effort to get a trio of JRPG’s released in North America, has also garnered much publicity for the game, and will hopefully benefit it in gaining a respectable place amidst the UK Charts next week.

Xenoblade Chronicles is due to release exclusively for Wii tomorrow (August 19th) across Europe.
