Xenoblade Chronicles 3 Unique Monsters: Where To Find Them And Soul Hack Abilities

Xenoblade Chronicles 3 Unique Monsters Guide Screenshot

We have you covered with a guide listing every Unique Monster in Xenoblade Chronicles 3. These colossal creatures have been a series staple since the original Xenoblade Chronicles on Wii, and it comes as no surprise that the optional bosses once again make a return.

What Are Unique Monsters?

Scattered through each of Aionios’ regions, even the game is sure to warn you that Unique Monsters are “incredibly strong foes that are very challenging, even when you’re at their level. Going in without a sound strategy will not get you very far.” For that reason, you will either see them as a challenge to tackle along your adventure to help level your party up or as a rewarding post-game challenge when your party will be at its strongest.

I certainly hunted them down after I had seen the game’s conclusion, and that has helped in how I have approached writing their locations. It is much easier when you have Landmarks, Rest Spots and even Named Graves – left behind by Unique Monsters that you may have already defeated – to use as references to point you in the right direction.

What Is The Soulhacker Class?

The biggest difference in relation to Unique Monsters in Xenoblade Chronicles 3 is the Soulhacker class, which is unlocked after recruiting an optional Hero character in the Cadensia region in Chapter 5. It’s more time-efficient to start hunting down Unique Monsters after a party member has access to this class, otherwise, you will have to defeat the Unique Monsters that you have already toppled again to receive their Soul Hack abilities.

The Soulhacker class is unlike others in the game in that you are unable to set Master Arts or Skills, instead relying on a special ability that allows them to Soul Hack a Unique Monster that has been defeated to acquire Arts and skills. In many ways, it’s similar to how you obtain Blue Magic in the Final Fantasy series. The class is also unusual in that you can select its primary role – whether that be Attacker, Defender or Healer – to suit the make-up of your party.

It’s worth mentioning that none of the Unique Monsters are missable, and, after witnessing the game’s climactic finale and seeing the credits roll, you can reload your save which will take you back to the point of no return before the final confrontation. Again, that makes it a perfect way to spend your time post-game.

If you’re looking for more help with Xenoblade Chronicles 3, we also have guides about the amiibo rewards that you can receive, how to approach Gem Crafting, the game’s many cooking recipes, and what carries over to New Game Plus.
