Worldwide Pokémon X & Y sales surpass 11.61 million

Nintendo today confirmed that Pokémon X and Pokémon Y have achieved worldwide sales of 11.61 million units, as of December 31st.

That means that more than a quarter of the 3DS installed base, currently sat at 42.74 million units worldwide, have purchased Game Freak’s latest entry in the franchise, which delivered 3D visuals, Mega Evolution and the new Fairy-type.

We were particularly enamoured by such revisions in our review, writing: “There’s so much to say about Pokémon X and Pokémon Y that it would be a disservice not to simply suggest that you pick either game up and set out on your own journey of discovery. Regardless of the challenges needed to be overcome for this latest generational leap, each version easily amount to the most thorough experiences to have ever graced the series through the years.”
