Nintendo has pushed live another system update for Wii U worldwide, which echoes that released back in June.

Labelled Version 5.5.0, this primarily removes the Nintendo TVii icon for those in North America while introducing the usual undisclosed improvements to overall system stability and adjustments to the user experience.

Nintendo of America announced that Nintendo TVii would shut down on Tuesday 11th August, although provided no reason for the closure.

Within their FAQ the company explained that they were “deeply thankful for all of the engagement and excitement our users have generated and enjoyed while using the service,” reasoning that “every service has a life cycle, and it is time to focus our resources on other projects.”
