Nintendo have confirmed that their latest console is still being sold at a loss, GamesIndustry International reports.

Such news will dissuade thoughts that Nintendo will announce a price cut to compete with the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One, which are seeing western launches later in the year.

Though Nintendo of America president Reggie Fils-Aime previously explained that the Wii U became profitable if consumers purchased a single piece of software, meaning that such tactic can’t be ruled out entirely.

Nintendo’s first-quarter financial results saw the console deemed a main factor attributed to the company’s 36.4 billion yen ($387 million) operating loss.
