Wii U release date and pricing to be announced next year

During an investor meeting, Nintendo CEO Satoru Iwata has stated that the company won’t reveal the release date or pricing for the Wii U until next year.

Such comments were made in response to the influence of the Nintendo 3DS price cut to the forthcoming Wii U, to which Iwata replied: “Since the Wii U we showed you at the E3 show in June was still in the development phase without very specific proposals on the software titles, we are going to announce the release date and the price next year when we are able to explain the specific proposals.”

It isn’t a necessarily surprising revelation, with Nintendo most likely to be saving such information for E3 2012. Let’s hope they consider their approach more carefully and don’t end up confusing everyone as they did when they revealed the console at this year’s event.
