Wii U in-game voice chat requires Wired Headset

Whilst the Wii U will support in-game voice chat, players will be required to use a wired headset to be able to utilise such functionality, Kotaku report.

You’ll be able to chat with friends across “select games” a Nintendo representative explained, which include Assassin’s Creed III, Call of Duty: Black Ops II and Mass Effect 3: Special Edition at launch.

Whereas the Wii U GamePad has a built-in microphone, players are required to purchase a licensed stereo headset, from either Turtle Beach or Mad Catz (Tritton), in order to speak to friends or competitors.
