Wii U hardware sales double in Japan’s weekly charts

Media Create’s sales data saw Nintendo 3DS exclusive Project X Zone 2: Brave New World become the highest-placed new release in Japan last week.

Selling 40,945 copies, it placed second in the software chart – narrowly beaten out by Call of Duty: Black Ops III on PlayStation 4. Ubisoft’s Assassin’s Creed Syndicate and EA’s Need for Speed also made their debut as other new releases, placing third and sixth respectively.

Wii U hardware sales nearly doubled to 17,921 units, with Splatoon and Super Mario Maker continuing to sell steadily. Whereas the Nintendo 3DS family of systems sold 28,593 units, with the New 3DS LL leading the way.
