Wii Music U in the works, patent suggests

Wii Music U could be on the cards, with a recent patent application filed by Nintendo in North America indicating that a successor to the original Wii title is in development.

The application, which was filed with the US Patent & Trademark Office on 23rd April 2014 and published this week, suggests that one player will play on the Wii U GamePad, with sound for their chosen instrument will play through the controller’s speakers. This will isolate them from the rest of the accompanying ensemble, where they can more directly hear their contribution to the overall cacophony.

Rhythm Heaven Fever’s Takehiko Hosokawa and Game & Wario’s Goro Abe are listed as the patent’s inventors, with news presumably to be announced at E3 2014 if Nintendo have anything to share about the game’s existence.
