Wii best-selling console in Europe during December

Data that Nintendo shared during their latest investor’s briefing has revealed that the Wii was the best-selling console across Europe during December.

Nintendo were able to overtake Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 sales until the last week of the year, although the situation was different in North America where the Xbox 360 maintained pole position throughout the entirety of 2011. Likewise, in Japan it was the PlayStation 3 that lead sales.

We are also able to see how the Nintendo 3DS fared, flailing behind Nintendo DS, Game Boy Advance, Wii and PlayStation 2 sales for its first forty-three weeks in Japan before a sudden sales spurt that saw it surpass any other console in Japanese history.

North America saw a similar situation, although Europe has seen a slower uptake that continues to grow at a rate seen with the Nintendo DS.
