Nintendo has released The Master Trials, the first downloadable content to become available with The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild Expansion Pass.

That introduces the Trial of the Sword, Hero’s Path Mode and Master Mode, but also throws in multiple items that will help you search around Hyrule in Link’s open-air adventure. The next that we will help you discover, is the Phantom Armor.

What Is The Phantom Armor?

The Phantom Armor is based on the knights that appeared in The Legend of Zelda: Phantom Hourglass and The Legend of Zelda: Spirit Tracks on Nintendo DS, and, in those games, it prevented any damage when attacked from the front. However, when wearing the complete Phantom Armor set in The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild, it will increase Link’s attack power.

Clue To Find The Phantom Armor

The EX Treasure: Phantasma side quest will guide you to Misko’s EX Journal in the Outpost Ruins, in which the great bandit has detailed where he has hidden the clothing and armor that he has stolen. The clue related to the Phantom Armor reads:

“Armor worn by fierce phantoms, feared even by heroes, is hidden in the ruins of Hyrule Field. Find these pieces at a battleground where brave souls tested their skill… at ceremonial grounds where royal guards are honored… and at the ruins where the soldiers of Hyrule gathered.”

Where To Find The Phantom Helmet Treasure Chest

“Find these pieces at a battleground where brave souls tested their skill…

This first clue is for the Phantom Helmet, which can be found in the Coliseum Ruins. The nearest location to this is Outskirt Stable in the southwestern corner of Hyrule Field, with the Rota Ooh Shrine being the closest warp point.

This area is particularly dangerous, with many tough enemies patrolling the now crumbled battle arena. The treasure chest that you are aiming to reach is on the ground floor in the northwestern corner, slightly buried – meaning that you will need to use Magnesis to help spot it and yank it out. Be careful though, as there is a Lynel nearby.

Where To Find The Phantom Armor Chestpiece Treasure Chest

“… at ceremonial grounds where royal guards are honored…”

This clue refers to the Sacred Ground Ruins that lie south from Hyrule Castle. The nearest warp point is Central Tower and, once you reach the location, the treasure chest is southeast from the central platform. Again, you can spot it more easily using Magnesis and will need to tug the treasure chest out from the water – recovering the Phantom Armor chestpiece.

Where To Find The Phantom Greaves Treasure Chest

“… and at the ruins where the soldiers of Hyrule gathered.”

This last clue will direct you to where the Phantom Greaves have been hidden, and refers to the Hyrule Garrison Ruins.

It is a short distance from the Central Tower warp point, to the southeast. The treasure chest is located next to a destroyed Guardian along the road leading southeast from the Ruins, and you will once again have to use Magnesis to pull it from the ground to complete the Phantom Armor set.
