We Sing Pop! rocks out at Scala

We Sing Pop event

Last week, Nintendo Universe were invited down to live music venue Scala in London’s King’s Cross area to check out Nordic Games’ forthcoming release, We Sing Pop!

Attendees were able to belt out modern and classic songs from the game’s impressive tracklist including tracks from popular and iconic artists such as Adele, Bruno Mars, Coldplay, Jessie J, Rihanna and Lady Gaga.

After an introductory overview to the impressive array of modes within We Sing Pop!, which even encompass Singing Lessons to allow you to hone your skills, we were able to dive straight in, easing our sultry vocal talents in gently by warbling our way through Hanson’s irresistibly cheesy 90s chart-topper “MMMBop” before moving on to Owl City’s more artistically sophisticated debut single, “Fireflies”.

With the game gracefully scoring us with a good performance, allied with a suitable amount of dutch courage, we were then encouraged to take to Scala’s central stage to blast our way through our chosen track with the aid of a talented duo of backing singers. Not one to back down from such an open challenge Nintendo Universe accepted, resulting in a further successful, if not nervously daunting, rendition of Owl City’s popular tune.

We Sing Pop1Encouraged by such success we opted to double dip, moving on to Lady Gaga’s well known “Bad Romance”, or at least we thought that we knew it well enough…! Regrettably we didn’t, and you can catch our fateful efforts below – that’s us on the left!

Nevertheless, it perfectly showcases the reasons as to why the karaoke genre has seen such booming success on the gaming circuit. Laughing off your mistakes and purely enjoying the experience without worry, it demonstrated just how much fun can be had with titles such as We Sing Pop! – surely set to be a further party favourite from Nordic Games amongst many Wii owners upon release.

We Sing Pop! is due to release for Wii across Europe on March 23rd, available within Standard and 2-Mic Pack Editions.
