Funktronic Labs has revealed that their ’80s-inspired skateboating game Wave Break is coming to Nintendo Switch.

Having looked to capture “the feel of classic arcade skateboarding games with a dash of boating and a pinch of online shooters,” Wave Break comes packed with a single-player campaign and competitive online multiplayer modes such as Death Match to Trick Attack in gameplay experiences built around “a dynamic and high-tech physically-based fluid simulation.”

When you aren’t working your way through the game’s episodic storyline which involves “guns, kickflips and blood money,” you can trick out your ride and get new threads from unlocked skills and items.

“We’re super excited to finally announce that Wave Break is coming to Switch and Steam this Summer,” enthuses Funktronic Labs president Eddie Lee. “The team worked hard to get it smooth 60hz on Switch, and we can’t wait to see all the wacky fan-made creations in the new Park Creator. We also have another big musical surprise coming for launch, you won’t believe it!”

Wave Break will release on the Nintendo eShop for Nintendo Switch worldwide in Summer 2021.
