Watch_Dogs on Wii U sits between current and next-gen versions

If you’ve wondering how the Wii U version of Watch_Dogs fares, then recent comments from Ubisoft Montreal’s creative director Jonathan Morin positions it “between” that of current and next-generation hardware.

“I would say the Wii U version is pretty much in between what the current-gen is and what the next-gen is from a version standpoint. It’s hard to position it,” Morin explained to CVG.

“I would tend to say it’s maybe a bit closer to current-gen than next-gen for certain things but it’s a beautiful game on Wii U and it’s cool to play it just on the GamePad.”

He went on to explain that Ubisoft’s Bucharest studio were porting the game to Nintendo’s console, and that they have worked hard “optimising the controls for the beast that is the Wii U GamePad.”

Watch_Dogs will release for Wii U across North America on November 19th, and Europe on November 22nd.
