After last month’s repeated rumour that the publisher had outright cancelled Watch_Dogs on Wii U, Ubisoft have confirmed that it is still in development today during their earnings call.
However, with the Xbox One, Xbox 360, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 3 and PC versions to launch between April and June 2014, the “difficult decision” has been made to delay the Wii U release until an unspecified “later date.”
With so much anticipation surrounding their ambitious open-world title, I can only expect that such a disappointing choice will most likely result in players picking the game up for other platforms, therefore once again undermining the market viability of Nintendo’s console.
“We made the difficult decision to further delay the release of Watch Dogs on Wii U to focus the team’s resources where they could have the broadest possible benefit for both our customers and Ubisoft,” the publisher shared with VideoGamer.com, a worrying statement that perhaps signifies their shifting attitude towards the console in standing firmer behind competitors.
Watch_Dogs will release on Wii U in 2014.

I think I’ll just say this
If you are buying a Wii U expecting it to be a exclusive/ half-exclusive system (half-exclusive meaning it’s on both Wii U and 3DS) multiplats are almost dead on the system.
There is nothing wrong with that: Bayonetta 2, X, Mario Kart 8, Super Smash Bros. 4, Hyrule Warriors, SMT x Fire Emblem, Sonic Boom, Zelda U, this list rivals the Xbox One and PS4 for future releases, and don’t forget what may be announced at E3.
You can see why sales are slow for the Wii U, it doesn’t have the big multiplats. The Wii U is for people who can live without multiplats in favor of the exclusives or already have a console for the multiplats.
I completely agree, Arctic. I’m a Wii U owner and none of these doom-and-gloom stories phase me at all, because I bought my Wii U to play the AAA+ titles that Nintendo produce. If I want to play Watch_Dogs I can do that on PC when it releases, no problem. Wii U for quality Nintendo software, PC or another console for everything else.
