Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment have today announced Sesame Street: Elmo’s Musical Monsterpiece for Wii and Nintendo DS, due to release next month.
Currently in development at Griptonite Games, it features music performed by Los Angeles based band Ozomatli.
This serves to introduce preschoolers to the likes of hip-hop, salsa, dancehall, cumbia, samba, funk, merengue, Jamaican ragga, and Indian raga influences, with parents able to review which games their child has played and aim toward curriculum goals.
“In Sesame Street: Elmo’s Musical Monsterpiece, parents can inspire an understanding of music and dance in a kid-friendly environment with their favorite Sesame Street characters,” commented Samantha Ryan, Senior Vice President of Production and Development at Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment. “We worked closely with the early childhood development experts at Sesame Workshop to create fun interactive activities that help kids foster a love for music.”
“Sesame Street: Elmo’s Musical Monsterpiece gets children up and dancing and encourages music creation,” adds Rosemarie Truglio, Ph.D., Vice President of Education & Research at Sesame Workshop. “The game also explores emotional expression through music and dance, introduces instrument names and sounds, and helps children to practice early math skills through music.”
